"I can say without a doubt that there are an infinite number of universes.
Some are just like our own... but for one or two significant events, exactly the same."
- Lex Luthor
Chapter One: The Beginning of the End
- Digimon Multiverse: a specific Universe -
A half-ruined Tokyo, Japan
Aliens invaded the planet. From building to mountain sized spaceships surrounded the planet. They somehow developed their own Digimon and are using them as weapons for conquering and mass destruction. Each Mega level Digimon had an enormous size. Neither of these can be found anywhere in the Digital World. Humanity is facing extinction.
On the ground, a group of people in uniform and Digimon were looking in the sky; the Tamers. All grown up. The leaders are Rika Nonaka with Renamon, Takato Matsuki with Guilmon, Henry Wong with Terriermon, and Ryo Akiyama with Cyberdramon. The other Elite Tamers are Suzie Wong with Antylamon, Kazu Shioda with Andromon, Kenta Kitagawa with MarineAngemon, Ai and Mako with Beelzemon.
They are watching the sky, and a small golden orange ball of light. The object is flying in space at very high speeds, colliding with the spaceships and the giant Digimon, as if it is battling them.
Multiple ships and Digimon are firing energy beams at the object simultaneously, causing an enormous explosion.
The Tamers are looking in awe.
The object begins to fall down. As it enters the orbit, it catches on fire, then crashes just a few hundred metres from the Tamers.
They are running to the impact zone. What in the bottom of the crater lies is not an object, but a man! His height is around 6.1 feet. He has black hair and golden eyes with red circles at the edges of the irises, then his eyes turned to blue. He is wearing a futuristic, black, thin battle suit with glowing, golden orange lines which turned to blue, and stopped glowing.
"Are you all right?" Asks the worried vixen Digimon - Renamon.
The man while holding his head stands up, then responds. "Ugh! Yeah, I'm fine. But I couldn't fight them off all by myself! There are too many of them!"
"But aren't you our trump card? No one's stronger than you!" Says Kazu.
The man responds. "Well, I don't know about that. I'm no God. This isn't my first defeat."
Kazu asks. "Then why don't you tap into your deepest, darkest self to destroy the enemy?"
The man responds. "No. That wouldn't do. Even if I were going to, and destroyed each ship and Digimon with a single strike, it might be still impossible for me to defeat them all. There are just... too many! At least millions, if not billions! Besides, last time I did, I almost destroyed the Earth!"
Kazu's furious. "Damn it! What are we supposed to do?"
Beelzemon had enough of this. "That's it! I'm going!" He begins to fly with his large black wings.
The man stops him. "Wait! Don't act so recklessly! If I don't have the power to beat 'em, what chance do you think you'll have?"
The annoyed Dark Lord Digimon stops. "Hmph! You're right. Fine!"
"So calm down, friend! There's still one more thing we can do!" Says the man.
Kenta curiously asks. "What?"
The man responds. "...Our last resort!"
The four leader Tamers and Digimon gasped. Neither of them ever wanted to hear this. Especially Renamon.
Antylamon asks. "And what's this "last resort"?"
The man pulls out a flat little golden box with a lock from one of his hidden pockets inside his suit. "This."
"Is that... a Digi-Modify card?" Asks Suzie.
The man takes a little key out of another hidden pocket. Opens the lock, revealing a golden card he created. It has an image of a humanoid-like golden light. He grabs it.
"Anthony, wait!" Rika tries to talk him out of this. "If you use it, you'll die!"
The man has already made up his mind. "Sometimes, sacrifices must be made in order to save the others."
Renamon is the one who dislikes the idea the most. "Wait! Don't do this! Please!!"
"I'm sorry, Renamon." Says the man.
"Wait!" Rika tries to stop him. "I'll do it! I'm her original Tamer! She's under MY responsibility!"
The man rejects her. "Sorry, Rika. But you're not her only Tamer. I'm also responsible. Besides, the stronger the bond between the Tamer and Digimon is, the stronger the card's effect. And we have a bond very few can understand. Now please, the Digivice!"
Rika refuses. "No!"
"Give. Me. The Digivice! Please!" He wants to use it himself.
Rika doesn't want to. "But..."
The man does. "Rika!"
Rika slowly hands over the Digivice to the man.
"There's still a chance of failure! After all, It's just a prototype and never been used before!" Henry reminds him.
The man responds. "I know, but we have to risk it."
He slowly walks to Renamon to say his last words. "Renamon. The day you arrived in our world... was the best day of my life. Even then, I knew that my life is going to change dramatically. I took care of you, you took care of me. Our bond grew stronger and stronger as time passed. All the time we've been together. All the troubles we've went through. This is the best gift I have ever recieved from life!"
Renamon's tears are beginning to pour down her muzzle. For the first time ever in her entire life, she's starting to cry. She hugs the man very tightly.
The man's eyes are beginning to produce tears as well. They both stare in each other's eyes.
Their faces are getting closer and closer to each other's, until their lips are making contact. And they are making a long, passionate kiss. They're both crying.
The man swipes a tear off of Renamon's muzzle. "Take care of our Digi-girl."
He stands back. "I will always love you." He raises the golden card and the Digivice. "Goodbye... Renamon."
He slashes the card in the Digivice.
After a few seconds, he collapses on the ground, and the card dissolve into data and disappears.
"NO!!" Renamon jumps to him, and grabs his upper body and his head. "No... no... why..." She hugs him tightly.
The man's Digital heart was still beating... faintly. His beating is getting slower and slower.
"N-nothing's happening! Then why? Why did he collapse?" Henry's shocked.
"Is his death going to be in vain? No! That can't be!" So is Takato.
("I always wanted to see his face in the dust. But not... like this.") Thinks Beelzemon.
"No... Francis... He was like a brother to me..." Says Rika, who's the second saddest after Renamon.
The yellow vixen is still crying. "No... No-oh-oh-oh... Why did it have to be like this...?"
- 14 years earlier -
2011. April 21th, Thursday, 11:52 P.M.
Around 9 years after the D-Reaper incident. No great threat has appeared in years and now Digimon were an accepted part of society.
It was a quiet night. The stars covered the entire sky. Everything was peaceful, until...
"Look! A shooting star!" The voice belonged to the 36 years old woman. It was Riley Ohtori, who's married to the 42 years old Mitsuo Yamaki. They were walking the streets of Shinjuku late night.
"Yeah, I see." Said Yamaki. This shooting star was different. It had a flame-like yellow cloak, and had a black smoke-like trail. Shooting stars usually tend to just disappear from the human's sight, but not this one. This one also seemed much slower and closer.
Yamaki pulled down his sunglasses and stared at it. "That's no shooting star!"
The star was heading west, and then crashed. Yamaki looked at Riley. "Get in the car! Quickly!" They both ran for their car and instantly sat in, started the engine, drove off and chased after the object.
- Some time later -
Yamaki and Riley just made it to Mt. Tanzawa. As they're trying to make the rest of the way on foot, from the distance, they're starting to notice a big crater, and in the bottom, a strange, futuristic looking, large truck sized metal object drilled itself in the ground.
"It's... it's a spaceship!!!" Yamaki yelled. They were shocked.
The curious Riley started walking towards the ship, but Yamaki yelled. "Stop! Riley! Don't touch it! Could be dangerous!"
Riley stopped, looked at Yamaki and asked. "Then what should we do?"
"We better call our men!" He pulled out his mobile out of his pocket, and called Hypnos.
After a minute of conversation, Yamaki hang up. "They're on their way. They'll arrive shortly. This is a great opportunity! For all of us!" He said with a smirk.
- Six Years Later -
2017. August 20th, Sunday, 05:49 P.M.
Rika Nonaka's Residence, Shinjuku, Tokyo
Rika moved from the old Nonaka Residence years ago. Her new home was quite similar to her old home. Same building type. It had two bedrooms, one kitchen with a dining table, one bathroom, a living room, a training room, and a garden with a little pond and a tree. The atmosphere was good. Great for meditating. And one of the two main protagonists of our story usually tend to do so. A humanoid, yellow furred female vixen sat next to the pond. She had a long muzzle, pointy ears leaning backwards, white furry chest, fur sticking out of her shoulders, a long bushy tail with a white tip, three fingers with claws on each hands, purple sleeves with ying-yang symbols and purple tomoe symbols on her long, three-toed legs, and purple zig-zag lines under her eyes. Her height was around 5.9 feet. It was Renamon. Her eyes were closed. She heard footsteps coming from the house, which made her to open and reveal her black eyesballs with ice-blue irises. The sliding door opened, and a red haired woman came out of the house.
It was Rika Nonaka. She was around 5.5 feet tall, and had purple eyes. She was wearing a white shirt under her gray long-sleeved shirt, had a dark blue skirt, gray tights and shoes, and her hair was long. She used to wear a hair tie when she was young.
- Rika Nonaka -
During the past few years, Rika won countless Digimon Tournaments. By the time, she is officially known as one of the strongest Tamers in the world, having Renamon evolved to Kuzuhamon and earning the title of "The Digimon Goddess", and surpassed Ryo Akiyama by defeating him multiple times. She could easily afford a mansion, but prefers to keep a low profile, keeping her address a secret between her friends to avoid unwanted fans, riporters, etc. Rika and Renamon are best friends. In fact, they were like sisters. She started dating Ryo two months ago. He was her third boyfriend.
"Another date with Ryo?" Renamon asked.
"Yeah, and you know this is off-limits for Digimon, right?" She said with a smile, remembering the first few dates she went through with Ryo while Renamon was watching them from a distance.
Renamon responded. "I was just trying to be cautious. These wild Digimon tend to show up at the worst time. Not to mention those criminals out there. But very well." Considering the Martial Arts lessons Rika has learned, knowing that she can take care of herself in case if they got separated, she knew she can let her go.
"Alright. See ya!" Rika went back to the house, only to exit through the front door.
Renamon resumed her meditation. While she was trying to clear her minds again, a thought just went through her head. ("What's with this "love-relationship" between humans? I don't understand.")
Then, as she managed to empty her head again, she started seeing a vision: a giant blue dragon Digimon, a tiger Digimon, a large tortoise Digimon with a giant tree on it's shell, and a huge bird Digimon coated in flames. The Four Sovereigns! Azulongmon, Baihumon, Ebonwumon, and Zhuqiaomon!
- Inside the Vision -
("The Sovereigns?!")Thought the surprised Renamon inside the vision.
"Renamon! We have a task for you!" Said the dragon Sovereign.
Renamon knew that if the Sovereigns themselves contact you, then it's a serious problem.
"What task? Did something happen?" She asked.
"No. Not yet. But it's about to!" Said the tiger Sovereign.
"The fate of the Earth lies in your hands!" Azulongmon stated in a serious tone.
"The fate of the Earth?" Asked Renamon.
"A foolish human you call Yamaki is trying to open a gate to a parallel world!" The furious Zhuqiaomon said.
"We have foreseen that if he succeeds with his plan, he'll unintentionally create a Singularity, destroying the entire world!" Azulongmon told her the possible fate of humanity.
"Singularity? A Black Hole?!" Renamon was shocked.
"Humanity is just not prepared for this breakthrough. They're messing with something they don't know how to deal with!" Said the tortoise.
"How can he possibly do this?" The nervous Renamon asked.
"We do not know. But surely he has no idea what he's doing! He is currently preparing to open the gate." Azulongmon stated Yamaki's present activities.
"How much time until then?" She asked.
"Not much. I'd say 6 hours, to be precise." Azulongmon informed Renamon.
("That's midnight!") She thought.
"Then go! Do not hesitate! End Yamaki's plans before it ends the world!" Azulongmon sent Renamon on her new quest, while he and the other Sovereigns were fading away in Renamon's vision, disappearing.
- End of Vision -
Renamon instantly opened her eyes and jumped on her feet. "I must tell Rika!"
Then, out of nowhere, a very small white Digimon with wing-like big ears and triangle markings on his forehead (The Zero Unit) appeared: Calumon.
Even with that many years passed, he was still obsessed with playing games. No sign of maturity. He was like an eternal child.
"Hi, Renamon! Wanna play?" He asked in a high-pitched voice. He knew that Renamon was the kind of person who never plays such childish games, but he never gives up.
"Not now, Calumon!" She said just before leaping into the air and landing on a neighbouring house and making her way to Rika, jumping from rooftop to rooftop.
"Aww! She'll never play with me!" Said the saddened Calumon and his ears shrunk. "Wait! There's still Guilmon! He'll play with me!" Now he was happy and his ears grew big again, then he flew away.
While Renamon was making her way to Rika, she thought about Yamaki's plans. ("Why would he create a portal to an alternate reality? Has he lost his mind? If he manages to open it, he'll kill us all!") She was frustrated, despite the fact that she was trained to remain calm under all circumstances.
Streets of Shinjuku
Rika and Ryo were walking on the streets, looking for a place to eat, when Ryo pointed in the distance. "Hey, that restaurant over there opened a week ago! I had dinner there once. The food is great! You just HAVE to try it!" He was wearing a dark brown leather jacket with a grey t-shirt, faded jeans and black shoes. He had brown spiky hair standing straight up and blue eyes. He was around 5.8 feet tall.
Rika did not respond. She was lost in thoughts.
"Rika. You alright?" Asked the concerned Ryo.
Rika responded. "Hmm? Yeah. I'm fine. It's just... umm... nevermind."
"Well, spit it out! What's the matter?" Ryo was waiting for a proper answer.
"No, It's nothing, really!" Rika refused to answer.
"C'mon, you can tell me! We're dating, after all!" Said Ryo, still wanting the answer.
Finally, Rika let out a sigh and answered. "You know, after the time with the D-Reaper, I kept thinking abou a new threat that may appear. What if there's another danger out there? Something like the D-Reaper... or worse, waiting for the right time?"
Ryo humorously asked. "Worse? What's worse than a big pile of goo eating away the entire world?"
"Maybe an overwhelmingly powerful dark Digimon? I don't know. But I abandoned those thoughts a long time ago, but..." She paused.
Ryo curiously asked. "But what?"
Rika continued. "Recently, it's like these feelings are coming back to me. I just don't know what would happen, or when would happen. Renamon's been feeling the same thing."
Ryo placed his right hand on her left shoulder. "No matter what happens, we'll take care of it. I promise that on my life." He smiled.
Rika smiled back and nodded.
Then suddenly, Renamon showed up. "Rika!!"
Rika instantly noticed her. "Renamon?"
"Rika! I need to talk to you!" Said the nervous Renamon.
Rika was slightly worried. This was unusual of Renamon to appear out of nowhere to just simply talk to her. "Yeah, what is it?"
Renamon informed Rika. "It's Yamaki. He was recently working on a portal. A portal between time, space, and parallel worlds!"
"Really? That sounds interesting. But couldn't you tell me later when I'm finished with my date?" Said Rika.
"No. I'm afraid not. If he really opens that gate, that'll be catastrophic!" Renamon told her.
Rika was worried. "Why? What's gonna happen?"
"The end of the world." Said Renamon.
Both Rika and Ryo were shocked. "What?!"
Renamon tells the details. "If he succeeds in opening that gate, he'll create a Black Hole, sucking in the entire planet! Tearing everything to atoms!"
Rika couldn't believe this. "Why would he do that?!"
"He doesn't intend to, but he'll certainly kill us all, unless we stop him!" She told them.
Ryo nervously asked. "Who told you all of this?"
Renamon answered. "The Sovereigns."
Rika questioned. "How much time do we have?"
"Less than 6 hours!" Renamon told them the time limit, making them even more worried.
Ryo instantly looked at Rika. "We must call him!"
Rika pulled out her mobile and called Yamaki. "C'mon, c'mon, pick it up!" No one answered. "Damn it!! We have to call Henry and Takato!" She started dialing Henry.
Henry Wong's Residence
On the top floor of a tall building, there's a penthouse. Modern style, everything is expensive. The largest TV, the best furnitures, the best computers, the finest wine, you name it. The penthouse had a balcony with a jakuzzi. It truly was the high life!
Besides the couch, in the living room, there's a skinny, dark blue haired man with gray eyes and an average height of around 5.8 feet and tanned skin. He's wearing a black suit and pants, white shirt, blue tie and black shoes and has glasses. He was speaking in the mobile phone. "Yeah... yeah... okay... alright... okay, I meet you then. Alright, I have another call coming in. Bye." It's Henry Wong.
- Henry Wong -
Henry graduated in the University of Tokyo at the age of 25, with all of his father's, Janyu Wong's knowledge. Henry is the founder and president of the Pafōmansu no Kōjō Computers Inc. ("Pafōmansu no kōjō" means "improved performance.). It's job is to develop new, stronger and faster computers. It's goal is to make laptop sized super computers in the future. Henry and Terriermon are also best friends. They usually avoid fighting if possible, but they still go into battle with the evil if it's necessary.
Henry, noticing the caller, answered. "Hi, Rika!"
The stressed Rika spoke in the phone. "Henry! Bad news!"
"Yeah? What news?" Henry curiously asked.
"It's Yamaki! He's going to destroy everything!" Rika told him the news.
Henry was confused. "What? What do you mean?"
"I'll explain everything later! Meet me at Shinjuku Park! Call Takato!" She hang up the phone.
Henry was still confused. "Okay. That was... odd. Terriermon!"
Terriermon was on the couch watching the TV. "Yeah?"
"We've got work to do. Come on!" Henry asked him to come.
"Finally! A powerful Digimon!" Terriermon got excited.
"No. It's different. Come, I tell you on the way!" Henry took the Digivice from the desk and made his way to the elevator while dialing Takato's number. Terriermon jumped on his left shoulder.
Takato Matsuki's Residence
It was an ordinary house with two floors. It was an American type of house instead of a Japanese On the first floor, there's a living room, a kitchen, a dining room and a basement. The second floor had two bedrooms and a bathroom. One bedroom for Takato and Jeri, and another for Guilmon. In the living room, there's Takato, in a blue t-shirt and short gray pants, he has light brown hair and light red eyes. His height is around 5.7 feet. He had a day-off of work. He was sitting on the couch watching the news. Down the basement there's Jeri preparing to wash the laundry, and out in the garden there's Guilmon playing with Calumon.
- Takato Matsuki -
In 2013, Takato and Guilmon joined the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department (Keishichō), which now tends to recruit Digimon who has an official ID card, though the number of Digimon officers was still very low. He always had a sense of justice and the will to help people in trouble. On duty, Takato always wore the officer's uniform. They gave him a gun, which he never uses. Instead, he always relied on his excellent combat skills and Guilmon, but he always refused to use the gun as he never intended to use lethal force, no matter what. Due to his hard works and efforts in fighting crime, he's being ranked as a Sergeant with a silver-wreathed silver emblem and three gold bars. He married to Jeri Katou at the summer of 2016.
Takato looked outside, watching Guilmon and Calumon playing games, and sighed. "Digimon. Digimon never change." He often feels like having Guilmon around is like having a kid. After all, he created him.
Suddenly, his phone rang. Takato recognized the caller and answered. "Hey, Henry!"
Henry went straight to the point. "Takato. Meet me and Rika at Shinjuku Park. Now."
Takato asked. "Why, what's up?"
"I don't know for sure. But something about "Yamaki destroying everything". Rika will explain. Bring Guilmon." Henry told him to meet.
That confused Takato. "Wait, hold on!" Henry hang up. ("How does he mean "Yamaki destroying everything"? I thought he's on the good side. That can't be right.") He thought. *Sigh* "Hey, Guilmon!" He called his Digimon.
Guilmon ran into the house. "What is it, Takato?"
"Henry called. We're going to the park." Takato went upstairs to change his clothes to blue jeans, white t-shirt and a red jacket with four triangles on it's back and a small circle. The Digital Hazard symbol. The same symbol Guilmon has on his chest. After he changed his clothes, Takato grabbed his white and golden Digivice and the cards, then ran downstairs.
Jeri just came back from the basement. "Where are you two going?"
Takato put on the black sneakers . "Rika and Henry called."
Jeri stopped him. "You can't leave just like that!"
Takato looked at Jeri with wide open eyes. "What?"
"Not without a kiss!" Jeri said.
Takato rushed to Jeri, gave her a quick kiss on the lips and hurried to the park. "I'll be back! See you later, honey!"
Jeri waved at him. "See you, dear!"
Later at Shinjuku Park
Takato just arrived in the park and looked towards the small building where he used to hide Guilmon back in the days. "Ahh. Brings back memories." There he saw Rika, Henry and Ryo with Renamon, Terriermon and Cyberdramon.
"About time, speedster!" Rika sarcastically yelled.
"Hey! You know I live at the edge of town!" Takato responded. He walked to them. "So what's the big deal?"
The others were waiting for their arrival.
"Alright. Tell us the details. What's the situation?" Henry asked.
Renamon informs them. "I've been contacted by the Sovereigns. They told me Yamaki is creating a Wormhole to an other Universe. But humans cannot use it properly yet, and this is going to be our undoing."
Henry is astonished. "A Wormhole? But... in theory, the only way to make an Interuniversal Wormhole is with a Solar System sized Particle Accelerator and lots of negative matter!"
Guilmon was only confused. "Takato. What are they talking about?"
"Just play along." Said Takato.
Renamon tells him. "He found another way."
"Another way? Is that possible?" Henry asked.
"It appears so." Said Renamon.
"So what is this 'other way'?" Henry wanted to know.
Renamon responded with a question. "You do know what Singularity is, right?"
"Of course!" Henry said. Though he spends most of his time on computers, he's also an expert in physics.
Ryo shared his own opinion. "Nerds!"
Rika gave him a punch to his shoulder.
"Ouch!! What was that for?" He felt that.
"Grow up already!" Rika said.
"So he's using Singularity. If that goes out of control, then... oh dear!" Henry just realized.
"That's right. A Black Hole." Said Renamon.
"We've got 5 more hours!" Said Rika.
"My God! We have to call him!" Henry said.
Rika responded. "Already tried. There was no answer."
"Then we're gonna have to stop it ourselves!" Takato said.
"Let's go! To the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building!" Said Henry.
They all ran to Henry's car, then drove to Hypnos headquarters.
Little did they notice, that in the sky, a strange humanoid being was floating above them with crossed arms. He was very tall, around 7.5 feet. By the looks of it, he wore a very dark blue armor (which is actually a part of his body) with glowing neon-light blue lines. The armor covered his entire body. Even his face. His head's back was pointy. He was listening to the Tamers' conversation.
"Soon." Said in a deep, slightly robotic voice.
- To be continued...
